hilarous book, highly recommend if you need a laugh

“And so I continue in borderline poverty, save for my one indulgence, no, my single absolute necessity: I take cabs. Yes, on occasion, when I wish to see what people with unpleasant skin conditions are wearing, I do take the subway. I have never, I am proud to say, taken the bus, because people who take the bus have given up.”

“I believe in a benevolent God not because He created the Grand Canyon or Michelangelo, but because He gave us snacks.”

edible schoolyard volunteer

Just a few blocks away from my home in uptown New Orleans is the Green School where there is an Edible Schoolyard. I volunteered one day a few weeks ago with my friend Elena and really enjoyed being around kids again. So, I'm really excited to say I will be volunteering once a week with them. They have a gorgeous community garden space and compost. I was told the kindergarten students are just as admit about composting as me.

"Edible Schoolyard NOLA changes the way kids eat, learn and live at FirstLine Schools in New Orleans. Our goal is to improve the long-term well-being of our students, families, and school community. We do this by integrating hands-on organic gardening and seasonal cooking into the school learning experience, culture, and cafeteria food programs of the school we serve."
